Family therapy is extremely effective for achieving lasting change in behaviors and communication.  Families do the best that they can, but sometimes they get stuck doing the same thing over and over even when it is not working.  When one person decides to make a change, it will have a ripple effect throughout the family because family members will instinctively change their responses to the person.  Issues usually arise when some perceive the change as a negative choice or when the problem has been hurtful but even positive change can be stressful.

Family therapy provides a safe, structured environment to work through the problems. Each person is enabled to speak and express their feelings while hurtful comments can be replaced with productive communication techniques.  The effect is that all family members can come to a resolution about their role in the change effort which creates satisfaction as an individual and as a member of the family.
